Let's Recap: A Post With Lots and Lots of Pictures!

So I'M BACK! It feels so good to say write that! It's definitely been far too long since my last post. I've already outlined lots of great posts for this month; it's Christmas time! If Christmas doesn't give you something to do around your house, I don't know what will! I've already been decorating around here, but before we go there, I want to share a little of what I've been up to since October.

Over the last few months, I've been slowly (as usual) crossing things off my to-do list for the front of the house. Here's the house as of the end of October: (Can you find all 7 updates/changes?!)

SPOILER ALERT:

Okay, so they might not be changes that exactly jump out at you, like when our house went from red brick to white, but nevertheless, they are improvements! So the changes include...

  1. Painted the bench -- black
  2. Removed the cheap storm door
  3. Painted the wooden frame of the door -- black
  4. Repainted the front door -- Cherry Tomato (Sherwin Williams)
  5. New numbers for the door (Okay, I know that one is hard to see in the above photo -- I'll give you that one.)
  6. Added a kick plate to the door
  7. New mailbox
So there you have it! Like I said, all relatively small updates, but I think they make a world of a difference! (Note: You should see how awesome these small updates look with the outside Christmas decor. Oh wait, you will! I have that on my list of things to post.)

So that you can appreciate these small changes, here is a before and after 'cause you know how much I love some good before and after photos together.

Before (August 2012):

In Progress/After (December 2012):

{The Halloween pumpkins you never saw until now!}

 {Thought I'd throw in a detailed shot of the mums, hay, pumpkins, etc.}

I don't know about you, but I'm loving the changes! I knew taking off the storm door would make such a big difference! And I was dying to remove it so I could paint the frame of the door. I got that idea from a summer issue of HGTV magazine. Here is the couple in front of their home: (Notice how awesome their door looks framed with black.)

Her door color is Piñata by BM, what my previous door color was... Mine didn't look a thing like hers! Makes me wonder how much they edited the color after the photo shoot.

On top of the changes I've been making around here, Austin surprised me with a trip to NYC! We had a great time -- walked around Central Park, saw Wicked on Broadway, went to Top of the Rock, and lots of other fun stuff. Unfortunately, I didn't take as many pictures as I had planned. Here are a few:

It truly is amazing how large Central Park is! When I lived in NYC for a summer during college, I barely touched the size of Central Park and I went almost every weekend! I have still yet to see The Reservoir, the largest body of water in Central Park. You can see it, below, in the far side of the park.

{Lord & Taylor -- I just loved their window awnings!}

And last but not least on the agenda of what's been going on since my last post... Thanksgiving! I LOVE Thanksgiving. I come from a large immediate family, so it's always very nice for all of us to get together to enjoy food and each other's company. Here are the only pictures I remembered to take of the evening -- the table decor:

Whew! If you've made it to this point, I commend you... Longest post EVER! With so much time having passed between this post and my last, I felt the need to somewhat document a few things from my long leave of absence.

Now I get to start with Christmas! Tomorrow I'm going to share some fun things we'll be doing to get us in the Christmas spirit. I know, it's kind of a hard thing to do with this 70 degree weather!
